My Story
I was raised in the "other" part of the Eastern Standard time zone (twelve years in western PA, and twelve years in Ohio). I moved to Massachusetts in 2010 after graduating with my DVM from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (Go Bucks!), and I completed a veterinary training program in comparative medicine at MIT before landing on the North Shore. When I entered private practice in 2016, I rented a condominium in the Point on Craigslist and was ecstatic to move to Salem; when my landlords decided to sell the property in 2022, I scraped together a down payment to buy it from them and have been proud to be a Salem resident ever since.

If my name sounds familiar, you may have already met me as a practicing small animal veterinarian, either at Northeast Veterinary Hospital in Peabody Square (2015-2019) or at Angell at Essex, on the campus of Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School in Danvers (2019-2022). I am currently the Regional Medical Director for a family-owned group of veterinary centers in the greater Boston area. Although I was formally trained as a veterinarian, the lessons I have learned in business leadership and customer service through my day job have imparted in me the skills to serve my community in a manner that is responsive, equitable, fiscally responsible, and data-driven.

Outside of clinical practice, I find fulfillment in volunteerism and community service. On Fridays, I volunteer as a SCUBA diver in the Giant Ocean Tank at the New England Aquarium, and I have been feeding "Myrtle the Turtle" and the other tank residents since 2019. I serve as a commissioner on Salem's Transportation Commission (formerly known as the Traffic and Parking Commission), and I find it fascinating and rewarding to help implement safer and more efficient transportation options for all of our city's residents, both drivers and non-drivers alike. In 2022, I also founded a pedestrian safety group, Salem's Safe Walking Advocacy Group (SWAG), and we meet bimonthly to help discuss and raise awareness of street safety issues throughout the city.
In my personal life, I enjoy knitting, running, being outside (especially near the ocean), and attending social and service events in our community. I have a ragdoll
cat named Fancy, who was rescued by PALS from a life of scavenging leftover Chinese food from a dumpster on the Lynnway. I don't have a dog right now, but I always enjoy meeting friends' dogs and living vicariously through their canine ownership. I love meeting new people and pets alike, and in an animal-loving city like Salem, I know I'm in good company.
We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful and historic city, and I am confident that I can bring my leadership and service skills to the table to help us build a more resilient, more efficient, and safer Salem.
